Sherut Leumi girls working with Makom Balev in Bet Shemesh started the school year with programs about Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah.
The volunteers taught about the holidays in a way that was both informative and fun for the pupils at the Begin public school. The activities gave the pupils the opportunity to learn about the holidays in depth, including the customs and mitzvot involved in each holiday.
For some of the children these were almost the only activities about the holidays they had.
“We are very interested in having our Sherut Leumi volunteers work in any school in the Jerusalem area that is interested in introducing innovative religious programs on a regular basis,” says Chaim Pelzner, Director of Programming for OU Israel.
If you know of a school that would be interested in having Makom Balev volunteers enrich its curriculum, contact Racheli Ninio.
